Study: Babies Can Tell Right From Wrong From Six Months

A study carried out at Yale University has cast doubt on the assertion made by a number of prominent psychologists that children are born without morals and learn them during their early years.

Babies aged 6-12 months were shown a shape that helped and hindered another shape. 80 percent of infants spent more time looking at the helpful shape afterward. In another experiment, some even whacked a ´naughty´ puppet unprompted.

"A growing body of evidence ... suggests that humans do have a rudimentary moral sense from the very start of life... Some sense of good and evil seems to be bred in the bone," said psychology professor Paul Bloom.
