In Recession Students Tend to Switch Major

In recession American college students seem to react to the situation and change majors. At first Desmond Brooks wanted to major in hospitality but now he is living at home, attends Georgia State University and is working full time.

He switched from hospitality to finance and managerial science to learn about market development and work in his father´s business. Desmond is only one example that shows the trend of switching majors in order to find a job at all.

According to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, almost half of the seniors who applied for jobs last year received an offer. This year it is only 39 percent.
