Researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that cigarettes by American brands show higher levels of tobacco-specific nitrosamines.
Researchers compared American cigarettes to U.S. cigarettes and found out that the amount of tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs) is about triple that of cigarettes from Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
But the level also varies by brand. "There is the oblique suggestion that it might be worthwhile to try to reduce the levels of this carcinogen in tobacco smoke", a doctor says.
