The operators of Narita airport and a nearby Hilton hotel started accepting applications Tuesday for a new celebratory package which enables couples to have weddings in the airport’s lobby.
A couple can have a wedding in the departure lobby in the South Wing of Terminal 1 of the airport, east of Tokyo, in the ‘‘Airport Wedding’’ package worth some 400,000 yen, Narita International Airport Corp and Hilton said, adding they only take one booking a week on weekends and holidays. While a mock wedding ceremony of bride and groom models entertained passengers in the lobby the same day, an official of the airport company said, ‘‘We’ll produce a special moment in which people who are there by chance can share a celebratory mood at the air gateway for people from around the world coming and going.’’
