n Tuesday June 8, 2010, myFOXchicago.com reported that there was an expanding salmonella outbreak linked to Subway restaurants in the Chicago area. There is a total of 60 cases linked to the outbreak.
Between May 11, 2010, and May 25, 2010, all the patients reported eating at various Subway sandwich shops. The patients ranged from the ages of 3 to 88 years old. 17 people have been hospitalized.
Reports said that it is not clear what caused the outbreak, but some of the restaurants have destroyed lettuce, peppers, onions, and tomatoes as a precaution.
