Although Michael Jackson passed nearly a year ago, his spirit still lives on among us. This couldn’t be more apparent than in the case of 4-year-old Wang Yiming, a prepubescent Michael Jackson impersonator who critics hail as the reincarnated “spirit of Michael Jackson.”
Known as Xiao Bao (which means “little treasure” in Chinese), Wang Yiming is a tiny moon-walking & pop-locking Michael Jackson impersonator with moves that would make US rapper/dancer Soulja Boy cringe in shame. And though the musical lad doesn’t understand a lick of English, he can lip-sync almost all of Michael’s songs, including the lyrics to “Dangerous.”
However, Wang wasn’t always so flexible and full of life. He was in fact born prematurely and, weighing only 2 lbs, not expected to survive. According to CNN, Wang’s mother, Bian Aiqin, said the Doctor advised her and her husband to “assist Xiao Bao in doing physical exercises to build his strength.” But as he was far too petite for exercising, they instead played music in the hope that he’d move to the beat.
“To our surprise he was so attracted to the music. He stopped crying the moment he heard the melody. When he got bigger he started dancing,” she said.
Four years later and Wang / Xiao has transformed into an international sensation. After having mastered a bevy of signature Jackson moves, Xiao caught the attention of local Chinese television stations. He later went on to perform at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and even on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. He can now be found all across the world drawing in curious onlookers as he busts out some moves.
But even though Xiao is enjoying the fame and glory, he is dead serious about his career, which is why his parents have opted to shell out 20,000 yuan ($3000) per month on professional dance lessons and, of course, spiffy outfits that resemble the flamboyant gear Michael Jackson sported.
So what’s next for the young superstar? Only time will tell, but don’t be surprised if he makes a permanent comeback in about 15 years!
