Liaoling Province resident Zhang Lijun has spent the past three years training a flock of chickens to chase, throw and handle a ball—all in anticipation of World Cup 2010.
Zhang loves football and live chickens (whether he loves grilled, fried and roasted chickens too remains a mystery). So three years ago he combined his passion by training his two dear chickens in the art of football, or what Americans call soccer.
Then upon the World Cup’s recent arrival, he staged a mock World Cup match on China’s mean streets—chicken against chicken—with himself as referee.
“Using both their feet and their wings, the cockerels chased after the ball, even throwing in a couple of tricks and flicks along the way,” reported the Daily Mail.
It’s quite an impressive array of feats, especially considering that chickens have brains the size of an ant. And since Zhang managed to teach his chickens how to play football, imagine what he could teach a band of eager-to-learn dolphins or monkeys.http://www.weirdasianews.com/2010/07/11/cockadoodle-duo-takes-football/
