School officials in Argentina have decided to show matches involving the national team in the Soccer World Cup in school and college classrooms in an effort to keep truancy to a minimum.
Argentina plays Nigeria, South Korea, and Greece in the preliminary stage of the tournament. Two of the three matches fall on school days.
"The World Cup is a very important cultural event, a party and has a great educational interest. Watching a match at school takes up two hours of class time. But if students stay at home that´s six hours at least," said education minister Sileoni.
