Harriet Richardson Arnes wanted nothing more than her bachelor´s degree in education. It was the last thing on a list of things to do before she died, what her daughter called her "bucket list." Arnes turned 100 years old on January 2nd. Arnes earned a two-year certificate in 1931 and taught at a few places, including 20 years as a teaching principal to first-graders. Over the years she had been taking a class here and there, working on her degree, but gave it up in 1971 when she retired.
Norma Walker, a leader of the school´s alumni group, began working with the school to get her the certificate last year. Approved, they rushed it to her bedside to grant it to Arnes, who died the very next day, happy that she finally got her wish.
